Every now and then a trend breaks onto the style scene that totally baffles us – or brings us terrifying flash backs in this case.
We’re talking about kitten heels. They had their moment when we were young and took our first steps into the world of traipsing on tip toes. But like every cringe-inducing ex we look back on, we’d like to pretend our affair of ’02 with the kitten heel didn’t happen.
Last week, Vogue not-so-subtly declared the revival of the almost non-existent heel, with an article titled ‘Your Jeans Will Look Chicer With These Shoes’. Really Vogue? While we can maybe see the allure of a pair of heels that don’t have our legs teetering on the edge of exhaustion, we refuse to condone the failed romance between jeans and kitten heels. And we’re not the only ones.
On tweeting the image below, with the caption ‘The littlest heel can make the biggest impact’, Vogue had the internet in outrage. This is one ‘trend’ Vogue hasn’t managed to get us on board with.
However, if there’s one thing it did get us thinking about, it’s that it’s about time we elected a comfier shoe as President of the Heels. Forget the stilettos and opt for some wedges for a style that keeps your feet and your ego happy. If that’s too drastic a change for you, block heels are chic and distribute your weight evenly, making them a total blessing on days when you want to look and feel fab.
