Moschino is renowned for the recklessly subversive pieces it has brought out over the past few years. From shackled trainers, to a McDonald’s collection that played with the notion of fast food meets fast fashion, the brand doesn’t shy away from creating a little controversy.

The brand’s Creative Director, Jeremy Scott, uses fashion as a means of demonstrating a nostalgia for childhood, often referencing cartoons such as Spongebob Squarepants and The Simpsons. However, his newest collection has taken a sinister turn – and has caused public outrage in the process. The collection is drug-themed, featuring pill-bottle bags and jumpers, seemingly glamorizing drug use. The collection’s slogan: ‘Just Say MoschiNO’, plays with the anti-drugs slogan: ‘Just say no’, making light of the seriousness of drug abuse.
Following complaints from over 1000 people, online giants – Nordstrom, have decided to pull the line from their stores.
“We appreciate all the constructive feedback we received from concerned customers and ultimately decided to remove the collection from our site and the three stores where we offered it.”
What do you think of this? It’s clear that Nordstrom is listening to their customers should other retailers do too?
