I’m the Queen of black, and I can’t disown it again until next winter, there’s no way. A little bit of sunshine won’t tear us apart. When you’re a bit chunky like me, and you haven’t spent your winter months dieting for this moment, then you will understand the importance of black. It hides all the lumpy, bumpy bits and makes you look bloody great at the same time.

Many of us can be scared to wear black in the summer because black attracts the sun. But that never stops my friends and I. There’s a difference between picking a black winter dress, and a black summer dress. The fabrics are completely different. My advice is to find an outfit that’s cut out in all the right places, so you’re still showing off skin and not going full on gothic. Wear it the sexy way:

If there’s one thing I love about sheer, is that you can be sexy timidly. You don’t have to wear plunging necklines, or red lipstick to make black sexy. It’s all about pretending to show off your skin without actually having to go bare. Alongside this, it’s also fresh, and urban chic. Every cool girl is draped in sheer. And I must admit I feel like the cool girl when I’m wearing it too – even if I’m totally not!

This is what I love about the black dress. It can be the simplest, most boring thing in your closet but with a nice tan, you can put it on, add the right accessories and look amazing. There’s nothing better about a simple black dress, that hides what you want hiding and makes you feel incredible. You should honestly look in my closet because almost every dress I own is black.

It was a hard week at work this week, so it couldn’t be helped when I started searching for the best pieces to buy online. I can’t help it. Retail therapy is my chocolate, my comfort. But looking through all the choices, made me realize that I have nothing to wear for summer. Go figure. I haven’t made the adjustment between spring wardrobe to summer wardrobe yet. In fact, I don’t have anything for my summer wardrobe. It’s the constant thought of ‘I need new clothes.’ And I suppose of months trying to not splurge, I do need new clothes. The funny thing is, I’m not even halfway done. This covers only a few of the outfits I’m planning on rocking this summer. But my expensive taste really doesn’t help me. But you’ve got to have a good balance, sometimes you need to step away from the high street and really treat yourself. It doesn’t get to happen often, but when it comes around it’s like a mini-Christmas. If you’ve been second guessing yourself about something you’ve wanted for a while, then get it! I bet you deserve it! There’s nothing wrong with treating yourself once in a while!
